How would you describe your work in fewer than 10 words?

I'd describe my most recent work as narrative-driven portraiture set in fictional yet autobiographical landscapes.

When and why did you start making art?

I've no idea when or why I started making art but what I do know is why I haven't stopped making it and that’s because it's one of the only things I know how to do well.

When did you first sell a piece, and how did it feel?

I sold a good few pieces from my graduate show which was cool. Until then, I'd just been selling work to friends so it was nice to see people outside of my little circle take an interest in what I was making and want to support it.

What is the message of your art?

When I make work I'm not thinking of what sort of message it has. For me, it's more about the feeling it gives off or it's energy. I'm trying to capture that original idea and the excitement I had when I first thought of it and attempting to convey that as best as I can. Certain narratives may form and messages may arise during the painting process as the composition takes shape but my initial goal is all about visualising an idea and recording a certain mood or tone.

How do you get inspired?
